MDs, RNs, PAs, NPs, and EMTs, first responders, hospitals, clinics, health departments, emergency medical services, extended care facilities, HRSA entities, and emergency preparedness planning partners.

Course Description
This course will explore advance concepts in pandemic influenza and the steps that federal, state and local governments are taking to reduce the negative consequences of a flu pandemic outbreak. Participants will learn about the epidemiology and mortality of pandemic influenza and ways medical professionals can prepare for pandemic influenza.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the current and future risks of avian and pandemic influenza.
- Explain the difference between antigenic drift and antigenic shift.
- Describe the impact of an influenza pandemic on the region.
- List three things medical health care providers can do to prepare for pandemic influenza.
